Their is a serious scramble for lawyer Danstan Omari if the current unfolding is something to go by.
According to multiple social media posts in Nyamira and its environment, residents are calling on him to contest for a gubernatorial post in 2027 polls.
This now puts the vibrant Kenyan lawyer in a tight situation putting in mind that majority of Nairobi residents including the Gen Zs have been vouching for him to be their next Senator.
Some caps with campaigns branding, ‘ Wakili Omari for Nairobi senate 2027’ are already out.
Back to Nyamira, almost all the fans who attended and watched the Shabana Vs Posta ranchers Match praised lawyer Omari for fighting for them in their hour of need and demanded one thing. To be their next governor.
” Omari , come, come, come be our Governor in Nyamira,” they sang during the match.
Others said, ” You are the true son of the soil, Don’t forsake us,”.
Their calls comes after Omari led other Kisii advocates to plead with the court to allow Shabana FC supporters to enter the stadium and support their team.
The court conquered with Omari and the team after a short battle and allowed Shabana FC fans to enter into the Gusii Stadium for their premier league match against Posta Rangers.
The sports Disputes Tribunal after Omari and other advocates legal battle suspended the FKF punishment for the club to play five home matches without fans.
This came barely few days after The Football Kenya Federation’s Leagues and Competition Committee on Thursday imposed the ban on Shabana following the team’s last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
Shabana was leading until the last minute of added time when Ulinzi Stars equalised. After the final whistle, some fans alledgly uprooted seats and threw them into the playing field, the facts Omari downplayed.
The suspension had been issued by the Leagues and Competitions Committee, through chairman Michael Majua who slapped the Glamour Boys with sanctions following the fan trouble.
The moves attracted widespread condemnation from lawyers from the Abagusii community who protested an FKF ban led by Vibrant city lawyer Danstan Omari.
The tribunal suspended the FKF decision.
“That stay of the ruling of the respondent (Football Kenya Federation) dated September 25 be and is hereby granted pending hearing and determination of this application,” tribunal’s chairman John Ohaga said.
The matter was certified urgent and will be mentioned on Thursday, October 3, for further directions.
Omari had faulted the FKF committee for punishing Shabana FC, saying the punishment meted out to the club was severe.
“First and foremost, there is no evidence to show that the goons who caused trouble were Shabana FC fans. In the past, teams have been banned for two games. Why five for Shabana FC?” Omari posed.
Residents also intimated to this reporter that lawyer Danstan Omari has been helping the needy students in his home tuff by paying the school fees among the issues.
